trouble recording with music memos app

hi just downloaded music memos and having trouble recording finding it not accessible
when i record it seems like it don't play at the beginning after i stop
also not really sure how to stop it
i sing on time and when turn on drums and bass its off
its not recording right
how do you know when it starts recording when i'm done when i double tap i'm in the the my idea text field
